We are thrilled to introduce Dr. Alejandra María Ruiz Zapata, a Biomedical Engineer with a passion for advancing patient care through innovation. With over 15 years of experience spanning academia and industry, Alejandra brings expertise in production process development, tissue engineering, medical devices, and quality management to BioMed.

Her career journey has taken her from Colombia to London to Amsterdam and now Nijmegen, where she collaborates on critical projects like the development of a product aiming to alleviate chronic bladder pain as part of the Interreg NanoGel consortium in collaboration with the Urology Department at Radboudumc.

Alejandra’s dedication to regenerative medicine and women’s health research has made her an invaluable addition to our team. When she’s not in the lab or managing key collaborations, you’ll find her cycling through the Netherlands, exploring new cultures, or dancing to the rhythms of her Colombian roots.
