Myringoplasty Solutions

MyringoPatch

“The safe alternative to autologous fascia temporalis”

MyringoPatch is engineered to eliminate the need for a secondary surgery site, ensuring optimal surgical outcomes without compromise.

  • Enhanced Mechanical Strength: MyringoPatch is crafted for durability, offering superior resistance to facilitate effective healing.
  • Minimized Risk: By avoiding a secondary surgery site, MyringoPatch significantly reduces the chances of infection and scarring, promoting a smoother recovery process.
  • Suturable Design: Its unique composition allows for direct suturing, enabling precise placement and secure fixation during the healing period.
  • Proven Clinical Success: MyringoPatch has demonstrated excellent clinical results, underscoring its reliability and effectiveness in patient care.

With these advantages, MyringoPatch represents a significant advancement in the treatment of tympanic membrane perforations, offering patients a safer, more reliable healing journey.

Benefits

Tympanic membrane perforations vary significantly in shape and size, stemming from a multitude of causes. While complex cases often necessitate an underlay procedure conducted in the operating room under general anesthesia, not all situations require such extensive measures. Successful interventions may still result in residual or recurrent perforations, and for these revision cases—as well as some primary perforations of limited size—an in-office procedure with a transcanal overlay under local anesthesia is adequate. For these instances, EpiPatch presents a biological solution, acting as a protective bandage to cover and safeguard the surgical area, streamlining the healing process without the need for operating room facilities.

EpiPatch

The EpiPatch (formerly AmnioPatch) is a biological matrix made of amniotic membrane. It serves as a protective barrier and covering. It has a rather high tensile strength and is elastic and adhesive. Altogether, EpiPatch provides the patient an improvement on its regenerative ability. The advantages:

  • Protective barrier
  • Adhesive
  • Wound covering
  • Barrier function
  • No preperation
  • Off-the-shelve

Benefits

Perforations of the tympanic membrane can come in different shapes and sizes
due to a wide variety of causes. Complicated cases requiring an underlay procedure are oftentimes performed in
the OR and under general anaesthesia. Even with successful procedures, residual or recurrent perforations may occur. For these (revision) cases which are limited in size (alike some primary perforations), a full OR facilitated procedure is not necessary. A transcanal overlay during an in-office procedure under local anaesthesia will suffice. In these cases, EpiPatch offers a biological patch that serves as a bandage and covering to protect the surgical area.

StemDisc and StemPatch

“Enhanced healing for revision tympanoplasty”

StemDisc and StemPatch are designed to be used as adjunct for MyringoPatch. It is a thin membrane which can also be implanted by itself to close the perforation of the tympanic membrane. The advantages:

  • Acts as a protective membrane
  • Reduces risk of infection
  • Ambient storage so easy to use
  • Good clinical results

Benefits

StemDisc and StemPatch are membranes which acts as a protective barrier. It is biocompatible and studies shown that the results of this product are comparable to using autologous fascia temporalis[2]. It is suitable for primary and revision surgery.

The use of StemDisc and StemPatch are favorable for the patient who have a history of infections as the patch acts a protective membrane. Its elasticity make it suitable to cover a large area and maintaining its integrity.

StemDisc and StemPatch are ready for use, and will not shrink upon implantation. The biologics are available in two disc sizes: Ø 12 and Ø 16 mm and the StemPatch has a size of 25 x 30 mm. It is offered freeze dried.

SeptumStrip

“Reinforces the tympanic membrane and surrounding tissue”

The SeptumStrip is developed to be used in tympanoplasty using the butterfly technique. This is a thin piece of cartilage which can be implanted to close the perforation of the tympanic membrane. The advantages:

  • Suitable for anterior and posterior perforations
  • High mechanical integrity
  • Higher graft integration rate
  • Good clinical results

Benefits

SeptumStrip is costal cartilage which is pre-shaped and ready for use in the tympanic membrane. It is biocompatible and studies shown that the results of this product are comparable to using autologous fascia temporalis in large perforations[3]. It is suitable for primary and revision surgery.

The SeptumStrip is developed for using the butterfly technique in myringoplasty. A systematic review concluded that the cartilage graft showed a higher graft incorporation compared to temporalis fascia[4]. Hearing outcomes are comparable for the two groups.

The SeptumStrip is customized for use for myringoplasty as it is pre-shaped and cut so it can be used off the shelve. It is offered freeze dried.
